Since 2005 local television presenter Troy Gray has hosted and produced award-winning TV documentaries with proceeds going to local charities. This year, 2009, Troy has teamed up with Ron Barton (Yellow Corporation) to pledge financial support to Variety the Children's Charity (Kickin4Kids program*) via an unforgettable adventure to Kangaroo Island. A television crew will film the seven-day expedition and an hour-long special presentation will screen on Channel 9.
Troy's past three documentaries (to Mt Everest Base Camp, the Kokoda Track and The Heysen Trail), have won medals at the annual South Australian Cinematography Awards.
Kickin4Kids is a program of Variety, the Children's Charity containing a range of annual activities, which raise funds to help children in need gain mobility and independence. Kickin4Kids has helped hundreds of children in SA gain mobility, freedom, independence and the chance to join in the life of their community through the provision of wheelchairs, leg splints, standing frames, vehicle conversions and wheelchair hoists.
